Lokayukta Raids 40 Places Against 10 Government Officials in Karnataka
Lokayukta sleuths in Karnataka conducted raids at 40 locations against 10 government officials as part of a disproportionate assets case. The raids took place in various districts, excluding Bengaluru, including Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya, Tumakuru, Koppal, and Mangaluru. The officials targeted in Mandya included a BESCOM executive engineer, with raids extending to his residence in Bengaluru and a farmhouse in Nagamangala. In Hassan, Lokayukta officials conducted searches at a food inspector’s house and office, along with the residence of the food inspector’s realtor brother. An executive engineer in the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited also faced scrutiny.
Raids Extend Across Multiple Districts
The raids conducted by Lokayukta covered various districts in Karnataka, with government officials in Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya, Tumakuru, Koppal, and Mangaluru coming under investigation. The operations targeted individuals involved in public service, with a focus on possible disproportionate assets. Lokayukta Inspector General of Police, Dr. A Subramanyeswara Rao, confirmed the ongoing raids and emphasized their scope across diverse regions of the state.
Prominent Officials Under Scrutiny
During the raids, Lokayukta officials targeted a BESCOM executive engineer in Mandya, whose father-in-law holds a prominent position in the ruling Congress in Nagamangala. The investigation extended to a food inspector in Hassan and included searches at the residence of the food inspector’s brother, who is engaged in real estate. Additionally, an executive engineer associated with the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited faced scrutiny as part of the ongoing anti-corruption operations.
