LG-Sinha Unveils Synthetic Football Turf, Pledges Support for Kashmiri Pandit Community and Sports Growth
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Synthetic Football Turf at Jagti Camp, Nagrota, expressing great pride in the accomplishments of the Kashmiri Pandit community. During the inauguration, he dedicated the sports project to the youth of the community, emphasizing their substantial contribution to nation-building.
The Synthetic Football Turf, with an estimated cost of Rs 5.75 crore, will feature a G+1 pavilion encompassing a covered area with a seating capacity for approximately 600 spectators, along with change rooms and other amenities. LG Sinha acknowledged the government’s commitment, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, to the welfare of Kashmiri migrant families, as reflected in the interim budget of Jammu and Kashmir.
Highlighting the representation of the Kashmiri Pandit Community in JK’s Legislative Assembly as a significant step towards community empowerment, LG Sinha urged the youth to explore diverse opportunities in various sectors and contribute to the development of the nation.
The Lt Governor emphasized that the State-of-the-Art sports facility, developed according to FIFA Standards, signifies the unwavering commitment of the UT Administration to promote sports in the Union Territory. Additionally, plans for the development of an indoor stadium, outdoor gym, and cricket stadium at Jagti, along with allocated funds for badminton and volleyball court facilities, were announced for the current financial year.
LG Sinha praised the administration’s efforts in developing extensive sports infrastructure, completing 702 sports projects, and constructing multipurpose indoor sports halls in almost every district. He noted the establishment of Centers of Excellence in Canoeing, Rowing, and Fencing in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions, along with floodlighting and synthetic turfing in various stadiums.
Reiterating the commitment to support budding sports persons and enterprising youth, LG Sinha announced that financial assistance for the 1049 identified youth from a special camp would be provided by the end of February. He instructed officials to facilitate more youth interested in self-employment ventures and assured continued support from the administration.
LG Sinha encouraged community members to take the lead in creating large employment opportunities for local youth and announced plans for the second leg of the Special Grievance Camp for Kashmiri Migrants. He also shared that work on the approved Yatri Niwas would commence soon, enhancing facilities for devotees during the Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela.
