Joe Wilson Drafting Pakistan Democracy Act; Sanctioning Military Officials involved in Imran Khan’s Inclusion
U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson has announced that he is drafting the Pakistan Democracy Act, a proposed legislation that would impose entry bans on Pakistani military and government officials allegedly involved in the persecution and imprisonment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Wilson, a Republican lawmaker, took to social media to express his commitment to holding accountable those responsible for what he termed the “unjust treatment” of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader.
“I am grateful to be drafting the Pakistan Democracy Act, which will impose entry bans on Pakistani military and government officials responsible for the unjust persecution and imprisonment of Imran Khan. Thank you!” Wilson stated in twitter post.
The move reflects growing international scrutiny over the political situation in Pakistan, particularly the treatment of opposition figures. While the details of the bill remain unclear, its introduction could further strain U.S.-Pakistan relations, particularly at a time when Islamabad is navigating political and economic challenges.

The Pakistani government has yet to respond to Wilson’s announcement, but the proposed legislation is likely to spark debate on Capitol Hill and in diplomatic circles regarding Washington’s stance on democracy and human rights in Pakistan.
