JK Police Arrest Mian Qayoom in Babar Qadri Murder
Senior advocate Mian Qayoom, who has served as President of the High Court Bar Association in Kashmir for several terms, was arrested on Tuesday by the jammu and Kashmir Police in connection with the murder of advocate Babar Qadri, media reports said
Babar qadri was assassinated at his Srinagar residence in September 2020. The State Investigation Agency of jammu and Kashmir investigated the assassination.
The young lawyer, a noted debater and vocal panellist, was shot dead at his home in Srinagar on a Thursday evening.
He had reached home and was busy changing his clothes when somebody informed him that two persons had come to seek his advice on some legal issue. He came out to see the two persons who were carrying a file as well.
“He was on the staircase and the two persons were in his courtyard,” one friend, quoting the family sources, said. “One of them opened fire on him and he tried to get in and then the second bullet was fired.” Since the bullets were fired from very close range, he collapsed on the spot. He was driven to SKIMS where he was declared dead.
