JK Interim Budget 2024-25: A Focus on Grassroots Democracy and Economic Growth
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has commended the Interim Budget 2024-25 of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
In a tweet, the Lt Governor conveyed his appreciation, stating, “I am grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji & Hon’ble FM Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman Ji for J&K’s interim Budget 2024-25. The budget is dedicated to the welfare of farmers, women, youth, and the marginalized sections of society, aiming to fortify grassroots democracy in the Union Territory.”
The key highlights of the interim budget underscore the government’s commitment to achieving rapid economic growth while ensuring social inclusivity and sustainability. The focus is on the swift expansion of the agricultural economy, addressing regional imbalances, and bridging the rural-urban divide.
Sinha emphasized that the budget creates a conducive environment for investment and endeavors to expedite industrial growth. It is designed to ensure that industries contribute to increased employment, support identified areas for investment, and foster a thriving start-up ecosystem in the Union Territory.
Furthermore, the budget places a strong emphasis on skill development and employment opportunities for women, referred to as Nari Shakti. It aims to guarantee that the benefits of rapid economic growth are distributed equitably among women in both rural and urban areas. The empowerment of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and facilitating access to resources and networks for women-owned business enterprises are key components of this strategy.
