JK Government Announces Portfolio Distribution for New Ministers
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir administration, led by newly sworn-in Chief Minister Omar, has announced the allocation of portfolios to its freshly appointed ministers. The announcement was made just two days after Omar took charge as the Chief Minister of the Union Territory.
According to an official order issued by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the following ministers have been assigned their respective responsibilities:
Surinder Kumar Choudhary, appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister, will head the departments of Public Works (R&B), Industries & Commerce, Mining, Labour & Employment, and Skill Development.
Sakeena Masood (Itoo) will be responsible for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education, and Social Welfare.
Javed Ahmed Rana has been given the portfolios of Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs.
Javid Ahmad Dar will oversee Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative Affairs, and Election matters.
Satish Sharma has been assigned the portfolios of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, and ARI and Training.
The order also stipulates that any unallocated portfolios will remain under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Omar, keeping him closely involved in various key areas of governance.
The portfolio distribution was conducted under Rule 4(2) of the Transaction of Business of the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Rules, 2019, with Lt Governor Manoj Sinha overseeing the process. This move is seen as a crucial step in streamlining governance and ensuring effective administration across the Union Territory.
