Jammu-Tax-Enforcement Yields Rs 2.01 Crore in Penalties, Targets GST Defaulters
In a recent enforcement initiative spearheaded by the State Taxes Department, Namrita Dogra, Additional Commissioner of State Taxes Administration and Enforcement in Jammu, undertook an unannounced inspection of checkpoints established by the teams of DC Enforcement Central, Jammu.
Commending the dedicated efforts of the team, led by STO Dr. Sonika Sudan and operating under the meticulous supervision of DC Enforcement Central, Ritu Mahajan, Enforcement Central Jammu has successfully collected a penalty amounting to Rs 2.01 crore from April 2023 to December 2023. This initiative targeted GST defaulters who failed to provide the required documents such as GST invoices and E-way Bills.
During the enforcement drives conducted by Enforcement (Central), Jammu, a notable achievement includes the imposition of a penalty that reflects a significant 53% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. Additionally, 368 vehicles were detained, and approximately 103,108 E-way bills were meticulously verified.
The penalties were predominantly imposed on various commodities, with Marble/Granite, Metal Scrap, TMT bars, and Electronic goods being the major contributors. This proactive enforcement was carried out in accordance with the directives issued by Commissioner State Taxes Rashmi Singh. Deputy Commissioner Enforcement (Central) Jammu took further measures by organizing distinct teams, each headed by State Tax Officers such as Sonika Sudan, Chander Mohini, Romi Jamwal, Naresh Koul, Surinder Gupta, and Sunil Gupta.
