Jammu Kashmir: Kishtwar Observes Complete Bandh Over Chatroo Minor Girl’s Death
KISHTWAR, AUGUST 27 [VoM News]: Kishtwar observed a complete bandh on Thursday following a joint shutdown call by the Majlis-e-Shura and Sanatan Dharam Sabha over the death of a minor girl in Chatroo.
Shops and business establishments remained closed across the district as residents extended support to the bandh and called for justice for the victim.
The shutdown was announced following allegations that the minor girl was sexually assaulted and later killed in Chatroo.
Members of the public and local groups have demanded a fair and thorough investigation into the case, along with strict action against those found responsible.
The bandh reflects growing concern over the incident, with people seeking accountability and justice for the deceased girl.
Authorities are monitoring the situation as the district remains largely shut during the protest.
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes has also taken cognisance of the matter and sought a report from the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, regarding the allegations connected with the case.
