India’s EAM Jaishankar Bolsters Ties with Russia: Significant Agreements and Cultural Exchanges Mark the Visit
During External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s recent trip to Russia from December 25 to 29, crucial agreements were inked, signifying the robust camaraderie between the nations. The Ministry of External Affairs disclosed that three pivotal documents regarding the Kudan Kulam Nuclear Power Plants, pharmaceuticals and healthcare cooperation, and Foreign Office Consultations were formalized during the visit.
The discussions encompassed various facets of collaboration, spanning trade, economics, energy, defense, connectivity, cultural exchange, and interactions between regional entities of both countries. Jaishankar, in his exchanges, touched upon global and regional developments, emphasizing the significance of multilateral cooperation.
Interactions with Russian think tanks, scholars, and the Indian Diaspora in Moscow reflected the profound cultural rapport and goodwill between the two nations. In Saint Petersburg, discussions with Governor Alexander Beglov explored prospects for economic and cultural collaboration. Jaishankar engaged with a diverse group of Indologists at Saint Petersburg University, aiming to foster a deeper comprehension of each other’s advancements.
The visit also included engagements at School No. 653, named after Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, emphasizing Hindi as part of its curriculum. This emphasized the pivotal role of cultural connections in fortifying India-Russia relations.
This high-level engagement provided an opportune moment to reassess ongoing bilateral cooperation, reinforcing the robust Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia.
