Indian Army Neutralizes 45 Unexploded Ordnances in Kargil
In a critical operation enhancing public safety, the Indian Army successfully defused 45 unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in the Kargil district of Ladakh. This operation was crucial in mitigating potential risks associated with these dormant yet dangerous explosives.
Addressing Risks of Dormant Explosives
UXOs, comprising various kinds of explosive ammunition such as bombs, bullets, shells, grenades, and mines, are particularly hazardous because they did not detonate as intended when initially used. Their presence poses a significant risk of unexpected detonation, making such operations essential for public safety.
Collaborative Effort for Public Safety
The operation, conducted by Dhruva Sappers’ bomb disposal team, was a collaborative effort with the civil administration and police. The team’s successful neutralization of the UXOs in the Kurbathang area of Kargil was critical in ensuring the safe movement of people in and around Pashkun.
