    Indian Army Conducts ‘Honour Run’ Half Marathon to Commemorate Kargil War Victory

    In tribute to the historic triumph in the Kargil War, the Indian Army organized the ‘Honour Run – Indian Army Veteran’s Half Marathon’ in the national capital.

    Under the theme ‘Honour Run,’ the event aimed to foster stronger ties between the Indian Army, veterans, and the community, particularly the youth, according to the Ministry of Defence.

    General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff, inaugurated the event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, in the presence of various military, veteran, and civilian dignitaries.

    The ‘Honour Run’ comprised four categories: the 21.1 km Kargil Run, the 10 km Tiger Hill Run, the 5 km Tololing Run, and the 3 km Batalik Run.

    Over 14,000 participants, including serving personnel, veterans, NCC cadets, families of army personnel, and citizens of diverse age groups, enthusiastically joined the marathon.

    Celebrities like Maj DP Singh, a veteran Blade Runner, and Subedar Avinash Sable, a renowned Marathon Runner, participated alongside military leaders. Archana Pande, President of the Army Wives Welfare Association, and other military spouses were also part of the event.

    Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, honored winners across various categories with medals, certificates, and prizes.

    The Department of Indian Army Veterans organized an Expo, providing insights into the Kargil War victory, drawing enthusiastic participation and showcasing high spirits among attendees.

    The ‘Honour Run’ not only commemorated the Kargil War victory but also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by soldiers. It stands as part of the national celebrations of the ‘Rajat Jayanti’ of Kargil Vijay, reaffirming citizens’ support and respect for the Armed Forces.

    The Indian Army expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Delhi, Civil Administration, City and Traffic Police, participants, volunteers, supporters, and esteemed guests for their collective efforts in successfully organizing this significant event.
