India-Nepal Trade Talks Focus on Market Access, Investment, and Connectivity
The India-Nepal Inter-Governmental Sub-Committee (IGSC) on Trade, Transit, and Cooperation to Combat Unauthorized Trade recently held discussions in Kathmandu.
Led by officials from both countries, the talks covered issues such as mutual market access for pharmaceuticals and Ayurvedic products, intellectual property rights (IPR) regimes, review of the Treaty of Transit and the Treaty of Trade, amendments to existing agreements, strategies for enhancing investment, harmonization of standards, and synchronized development of trade infrastructure.
Both sides expressed commitment to strengthening cross-border connectivity, including through the construction of new Integrated Check Posts and railway links.
India remains a principal trade and investment partner for Nepal.
The talks aim to bolster economic and commercial linkages between the two countries.
