India and China Discuss Disengagement along LAC Amid Tensions
India and China engaged in discussions aimed at achieving complete disengagement and resolving issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector of the India-China border areas. The 29th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) was held in Beijing, co-chaired by representatives from both sides.
The meeting saw an in-depth exchange of views on methods to achieve complete disengagement and address remaining issues along the LAC. Both delegations agreed to maintain regular contact through diplomatic and military channels to uphold peace and tranquility on the ground in the border areas.
India reiterated its rejection of China’s claims on Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that it is an integral part of India. This follows recent remarks by the Chinese defence ministry reaffirming China’s territorial claim over Arunachal Pradesh. India emphasized that the people of Arunachal Pradesh will continue to benefit from India’s development programs and infrastructure projects.
The discussions between India and China reflect ongoing efforts to address border tensions and maintain stability in the region, underscoring the importance of diplomatic engagement and dialogue to resolve disputes.
