H&UDD Ensures Quality Standards for Projects Over Rs 5 Crore
The Housing & Urban Development Department has taken a significant step by instructing its affiliated departments to abstain from pursuing small-sized projects using government funds. The rationale behind this directive is the perceived lack of tangible impact on the ground and the challenges associated with monitoring such projects.
In this move, the H&UDD has specifically advised authorities and agencies to refrain from engaging in small-sized projects funded by the government through various schemes. In cases where Urban Local Bodies or other entities express a need for such projects, they are urged to generate their own resources.
The department believes that utilizing local funds could instigate self-policing measures at the grassroots level.According to the H&UDD’s order, any project should involve a minimum capital expenditure of Rs five lakh.

This requirement extends to all civil works costing more than Rs five crore and machinery and equipment purchased over Rs 50 lakh, emphasizing the department’s commitment to ensuring high-quality standards in larger projects.
