High Alert as Jammu Gears Up for Lok Sabha Elections
Security personnel in Jammu are on high alert ahead of voting in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police is patrolling vulnerable areas, utilizing drones and specially trained dogs to thwart potential threats, particularly in the wake of recent targeted attacks by terrorists.
The upcoming polls in Jammu on April 26 follow earlier phases in Udhampur and precede those in Anantnag-Rajouri, Srinagar, and Baramulla. This election marks the first general election in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370, signaling significant changes in the region’s political landscape following the reorganisation into two Union Territories in August 2019.
