    Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the groundbreaking “Gyanodaya Express- College on Wheels” initiative, heralding a new era of mobile education in Jammu and Kashmir. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station in Katra, marking the commencement of a transformative journey for approximately 700 girl students from various Universities in the Union Territory.

    Breaking Classroom Boundaries: A Unique Educational Pilgrimage

    The Gyanodaya Express, a pioneering mobile educational endeavor, is set to embark on a journey across different states, promising to be an educational pilgrimage for participating students. Lt Governor Sinha emphasized the initiative’s goal of dissolving the traditional boundaries of classrooms and academic streams. The project aspires to revolutionize education by providing immersive, collaborative, and project-based learning experiences to students.

    Inspired by Gandhi’s Footsteps: College on Wheels for Self-Discovery

    Drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s historic train journeys, the College on Wheels initiative aims to replicate his spirit of traversing the country by train, interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, and instilling universal values of truth and non-violence. Lt Governor Sinha highlighted the significance of the students’ journey as a means of self-discovery, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the cultural richness of different regions and gain new perspectives on life and wisdom.

    Transdisciplinary Education and Beyond: Strengthening Knowledge Transformation

    The Lt Governor stressed that the train journey would strengthen transdisciplinary education, providing students with opportunities for experiential learning. Collaboration, cooperation, and teamwork will be fostered as students engage with diverse subjects during the journey.

    Additionally, the Lt Governor expressed the belief that the expedition to centers of excellence, such as the Indian Navy, ISRO, and Sabarmati Ashram, would inspire new ideas, insights, and hands-on knowledge for innovative research.The Gyanodaya Express aligns with the visionary National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to shift the focus from job seekers to job creators. It seeks to foster a culture of idea incubation, innovation, and skill development among students.

    Beyond academics, the initiative will enable participants to gain a holistic understanding of the regions they visit, serving as a catalyst for personal growth, innovation, and national unity.In conjunction with the launch, a handbook on ‘College on Wheels’ and a publication on the ‘Design your Degree’ program were released, adding valuable resources to the educational journey.
