GDC Kishtwar and District Administration Celebrate National Unity Day

Government Degree College (GDC) Kishtwar, in collaboration with the District Administration Kishtwar, organized a grand celebration today to mark National Unity Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event, held under the guidance of Principal Prof. Basharat Iqbal, showcased a vibrant blend of unity, culture, and patriotism, supported by a dedicated team comprising Dr. Yasar Ahmed, Dr. Sehrish Gazal, and Dr. Tabassum Saleem.
The program featured a series of engaging activities, including inspiring speeches by students, lively group dances, and captivating solo performances, all reflecting the theme of national unity and harmony. The college’s NCC cadets also contributed to the spirit of the day with their enthusiastic participation.
ACR Kishtwar Sh. Mohd. Idrees Lone (JKAS), Chief Guest of the event, and Sh .Pawan Sharma, ASP, as Guest of Honour, graced the occasion. Other distinguished dignitaries included Mr. Kuldeep Kumar (JKAS), DIO Kishtwar, and Mr. Sajad Khan, DSP (DAR) and various other Officers and Officials.
In his address, Chief Guest Mr. Lone commended the outstanding performances of the students and faculty, highlighting the college’s efforts in promoting unity and patriotism. He emphasized the importance of National Unity Day as a reminder of Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in uniting the nation.
Approximately 300 students enthusiastically participated in the event, making it a memorable and impactful celebration. Faculty members in attendance included Prof. Umar Din, Prof. Prithvi Raj, Prof. N.K. Manhas, Prof. Jaideep Kumar, and Prof. Ashfaq Wani, all of whom played key roles in the event’s success.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Tabassum Saleem and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Dr. Sehrish Gazal, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and faculty members for their active involvement.
Participants were also awarded trophies for their exceptional performances, further enhancing the spirit of celebration.
