A member of one of the affected families shared their despair, “We have lost everything today – our home, our belongings, and our sense of security. Our families are left with no shelter, and our only hope now rests with the government.”
Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, visited the village to meet the fire-affected families and provided them with immediate relief.
This incident marks the second major fire tragedy in Kulgam within two days. Earlier, on Tuesday night, four families were left homeless after a similar fire engulfed their homes in Cheki Wangam village of Damhal Hajipora.
The district administration has urged residents to exercise caution, particularly during the winter season, and to adhere to safety measures to prevent such incidents. (KNO)
