Fatal Road Accident in Uttar Pradesh due to Dense Fog Claims Three Lives, Injures 20
A tragic collision between a bus and a rice-laden truck on Monday morning resulted in the loss of three lives, including two drivers and a bus passenger, while also leaving 20 individuals injured. Police attributed the accident to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
The mishap claimed the lives of truck driver Pappu, aged 50, from Deoria, as well as bus driver Mahboob, aged 35, hailing from Shravasti, and bus passenger Ram Raj, aged 38, from Gonda.
Reports indicate that most bus passengers were laborers from Uttar Pradesh working in Gujarat. Preliminary investigations suggest that the foggy conditions obstructed the drivers’ visibility, preventing them from noticing each other on the Bahraich-Balrampur road, a two-lane road lacking a divider. The collision occurred due to a direct head-on impact between both vehicles’ drivers’ sides.
Circle Officer Rajiv Sisodia remarked that the absence of dividers might have prevented the accident. The incident took place near Dharaswan village in the Kotwali Dehat police station area.
District Magistrate Monica Rani and Superintendent of Police Prashant Verma immediately visited the site and the district hospital, assessing the rescue and treatment provided to the injured. The truck was en route from Shravasti to Bahraich, while the bus was traveling from Rajkot (Gujarat) to Balrampur.
While three fatalities were reported initially, the injured were promptly taken to nearby healthcare centers. Some individuals were admitted to the Gilola Community Health Centre (CHC) in Shravasti, closer to the accident site, while others were transferred to Bahraich hospitals for further treatment.
Police sources mentioned that all injured individuals were initially taken to Gilola CHC, and subsequently, six were transferred to Bahraich, while one seriously injured person, Suraj (10), received specialized care in Lucknow.
