Explosion Claims Lives of 4 Children in Uttar Pradesh at Bundelkhand Gaurav Mahotsav in Chitrakoot
In a devastating turn of events at the Bundelkhand Gaurav Mahotsav in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, four children lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries in an explosion that occurred during a fireworks display. The incident has prompted a swift response from law enforcement authorities and the state government, initiating investigations and measures to support the affected families.
Swift Response from Authorities and Ongoing Investigations
Addressing the media, Bhanu Bhaskar, Additional Director General (ADG) of Prayagraj Zone, provided insight into the immediate actions taken by officials. He revealed that the District Officer, Chitrakoot, along with the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and other key officials, were present at the site. A forensic team and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) were also dispatched to the location to aid in the investigations.
An FIR has been registered against three individuals connected to the incident, with the possibility of more names being added as the investigation progresses. Harsh Pandey, CO, has been appointed as the lead investigator to ensure a thorough examination of the case. The ADG emphasized the collaboration with teams from New Delhi, Lucknow, and Prayagraj, as well as Agra, to expedite the investigation process.
Government’s Response and Support for Victims’ Families
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken immediate action by ordering a high-level inquiry committee, headed by an additional director general (ADG) rank officer, to investigate the tragic incident. In addition, he announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. ADG Bhaskar highlighted ongoing efforts to meet with the affected families, ensure necessary support, and distribute the announced ex-gratia.
Continued Investigation and Government Compensation
While refraining from commenting on the ongoing investigation, ADG Bhaskar stressed the comprehensive examination of facts, ongoing postmortem procedures, and continuous interrogation of individuals connected to the incident. The government is actively engaging with affected families, providing compensation of Rs 5 lakh to each family and additional support for the injured.
In the wake of this tragic incident, the authorities remain committed to concluding the investigations promptly and addressing the needs of the affected families. The focus is on ensuring justice, understanding the circumstances surrounding the explosion, and preventing such incidents in the future.
