Ex-cricketer Pakistan – Shahid Afridi Eyes Political Arena, Despite Family Caution
Afridi’s Aspiration for Political Service: Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan cricket captain, recently hinted at a potential entry into politics, expressing his eagerness to serve the people of his country. Despite his inclination, the 47-year-old cricketer disclosed that his elders have advised him against such a move.
In a media interaction, Afridi stressed the significance of individuals like himself engaging in politics to bring about positive change. He firmly believes that without the involvement of people with a genuine desire for betterment, significant transformations would be challenging to achieve.
Afridi’s Advice to Son-in-law: Regarding recent leadership changes within the national cricket team, Afridi revealed that he consistently advised his son-in-law, Shaheen Shah Afridi, against assuming captaincy roles. He disclosed his efforts to steer the young cricketer away from such responsibilities and instead urged him to concentrate on honing his skills on the field.
Afridi recounted his counsel to Shaheen, advising him against accepting the captaincy offer from Lahore Qalandars. He expressed disappointment that Shaheen did not heed his advice, highlighting the complexities of balancing familial guidance with professional ambitions.
