Social activist Arshad Ayoub has appealed to authorities in Doda district to release pending labour payments under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for the financial year 2025–26.
In a public appeal addressed to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Doda and the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Doda, Ayoub urged officials to ensure that the delayed wages of labourers working under the rural employment scheme are released at the earliest.
He said thousands of labourers who worked under the scheme are still waiting for their wages, and the delay has pushed many families into financial hardship. According to the appeal, the situation has made it difficult for workers to meet their daily needs.

Ayoub also highlighted that with the festival of Eid al-Fitr approaching, many families are hoping to receive their rightful wages so they can support their households and celebrate the festival with dignity.
He stressed that the labourers had completed their work honestly on the ground and that timely payment of wages is their basic right. Delays in payments, he noted, not only create financial stress for poor families but also undermine public trust in welfare schemes meant for rural development.
The activist urged the concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the issue and ensure that all pending labour payments are cleared without further delay, stating that prompt action would bring relief to many needy families and strengthen confidence in the system.
