Chief Justice Inaugurates Successful National Lok Adalat in JK
The Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh marked the commencement of the First National Lok Adalat of 2024 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on a proactive note last Saturday.

Accompanied by Justice Javed Iqbal Wani, the Chief Justice made a significant visit to the District Court Complex in Ganderbal to personally assess the progress of the Lok Adalat. During this visit, the Chief Justice actively intervened in a couple of cases, fostering amicable settlements between adamant parties.
National Lok Adalat in JK:Impressive Disposal of Cases and Compensation Awards
An astonishing 1,43,406 cases out of 1,52,551 were disposed of across 110 benches during the day-long National Lok Adalat. The event saw a total compensation and settlement amount of Rs 51,62,62,618/- awarded in various cases, spanning Motor Accident Claims, civil, criminal, labour disputes, and more.

Addressing judicial officers, lawyers, and litigants, the Chief Justice underscored the benefits of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms. Meanwhile, Justice Javed Iqbal Wani shed light on the increasing concern of matrimonial disputes, urging parties to leverage Lok Adalats for cost-effective and swift resolutions, thus preventing family disintegration.
