CEO Shrine-board Secures New-Year-2024 Pilgrimage Plans at Vaishno Devi Shrine
In preparation for the New Year-2024 pilgrimage season at the revered Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, Chief Executive Officer Anshul Garg chaired a comprehensive meeting today at the Spiritual Growth Centre in Katra. The gathering included representatives from security agencies and various stakeholders.
With the proximity of the New Year-2024, the CEO underscored the imminent surge of pilgrims expected from across the nation and abroad to the holy Shrine and the base camp at Katra.

He emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts among all stakeholders to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience.Adhering to the directives of the Chairman, SMVDSB (Lt. Governor, JK-UT), the CEO outlined plans for the efficient regulation of the Yatra.
In addition to deploying security personnel, he highlighted the role of CCTVs as vigilant observers along the route to Bhawan and in Katra. Pilgrims were urged to wear valid RFID cards linked to various facilities during the Yatra, and the CEO emphasized that no pilgrim would be permitted to commence the Yatra without a valid RFID card. Security agencies at entry points were instructed to maintain heightened vigilance, ensuring thorough frisking and registration of all pilgrims.
The CEO emphasized the need for proactive measures to facilitate a hassle-free pilgrimage, including effective crowd management, expansion of holding areas along the route and in Katra town, decongestion plans for the entire track, and strict regulation of entry and exit routes at Bhawan.
Over 700 dedicated CCTV cameras would provide continuous surveillance.Disaster management measures were thoroughly reviewed, with regular announcements planned to manage crowd decongestion.
Directives were issued for the movement of vehicles, sanitation, drinking water arrangements, and illumination of dark spots in Katra town. The security agencies were tasked with verifying and conducting a census of pony porters to prevent any suspicious elements on the track.Mohd Suleman Choudhary, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, highlighted the challenges facing deployed security forces in managing the expected pilgrim influx.
Additional forces would be deployed as needed, collaborating with other security agencies for fool-proof security and effective Yatra management.
The meeting included presentations on the detailed security grid, deployment of QRTs, and a multi-tier security approach involving police, CRPF, and other paramilitary forces.
Attendees included Additional CEO, Jt CEOs, Dy CEO, Asstt CEO SMVDSB, SDM Bhawan, SP Katra, SDPO Katra, and representatives from the Army, IB, CID, SMVDSB, and other intelligence agencies.
