Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir, led a crucial meeting on Friday, focusing on the meticulous preparations for the upcoming General Lok Sabha Election in 2024. The meeting brought together key officers, including District Election Officers and SSPs, to evaluate and enhance readiness.
District Election Management Plans Scrutinized for Key Districts
A comprehensive assessment of the District Election Management Plans was undertaken for Pulwama, Budgam, Ganderbal, and Srinagar districts. This meticulous review aimed at ensuring a robust framework for the smooth conduct of the upcoming elections.
Thorough Deliberations on Varied Aspects of Election Preparedness
The meeting delved into various aspects critical for election preparedness, including the meticulous implementation of the electoral roll process, logistical requirements assessment, manpower management strategies, risk management plans, and the secure transportation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), polling staff, and security personnel.
Security Measures in Focus: Plains and Border Areas
Special attention was dedicated to security arrangements in both plains and border areas, underscoring the importance of a comprehensive safety strategy. Allocating sufficient human resources, implementing the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) plan at the booth level, and devising an extensive training program for key officers were integral components of the discussions.
Holistic Approach for Comprehensive Election Readiness
The meeting emphasized the need for a holistic approach, addressing human resources, material management plans, secure route mapping, and tailor-made training programs for Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and designated nodal officers.
