Centre Enforces Ban on Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, JK for 5 Years Under UAPA
The Centre has issued a five-year ban on the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, JK (Jammu and Kashmir) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Home Minister Amit Shah announced the ban in a post on X, attributing it to the group’s involvement in activities aimed at separating Jammu and Kashmir from India while aiming to establish Islamic rule.
Shah highlighted that the outfit has been actively engaged in spreading anti-India propaganda and perpetuating terrorist activities, furthering the cause of secessionism in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Under PM Modi’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, any individual or organization found involved in anti-India activities will be thwarted forthwith,” affirmed Amit Shah.
The action against Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, JK comes as part of the government’s relentless commitment to combatting terrorist activities and ensuring the unity and integrity of the nation, particularly in sensitive regions like Jammu and Kashmir.
