In response to these unprovoked actions, the Border Security Force (BSF) released a statement indicating that during the night between November 8th and 9th, 2023, Pakistan Rangers engaged in unprovoked firing in the Ramgarh area. BSF troops promptly retaliated to the provocation. The Block Medical Officer (BMO) of the Ramgarh Community Health Centre, Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, confirmed that one BSF jawan had been wounded during the Pakistani firing incident and sought treatment at the center around 1 am.
Mohan Singh Bhatti, a resident of Jerda village, provided his account of the events, mentioning that the firing commenced around 12.20 am and escalated into shelling, creating a prevailing atmosphere of fear and unease along the International Border. A similar incident had occurred on October 28, when Pakistan Rangers had engaged in heavy firing and shelling for approximately seven hours, resulting in injuries to two BSF jawans and a woman.
