Boat Sinks in jehlum Srinagar:Mother Still Searching for Missing Son and Grandson
SRINAGAR: Showkat Ahmad, a professional mason, set out this morning with his son to drop him off at school across the Jhelum River in the Gandabal area of Batwara.
Tragically, Showkat has not returned home. The boat he was on capsized, shocking the entire community, especially his local area.
Hundreds gathered for the funeral of the six victims of the Batwara boat accident on April 16, 2024. The mourners, particularly the women, were visibly distraught as six people died, and rescue teams searched for three missing persons.
Showkat Ahmad’s mother was inconsolable, searching desperately for her son and grandson, Hazik Showkat.
The mother’s heart-wrenching search for her loved ones moved onlookers as she asked if anyone had seen ‘Showkat and his son’. “Is my son at the school? Please, someone tell me,” she pleaded.
Amidst the sorrow, the woman was taken home where anxious family members awaited news of their lost loved ones who had tragically drowned in the Jhelum River.
