BJP Lodges Complaint Over Eshwarappa’s Use of PM Modi’s Photos
The Bharatiya Janata Party has raised concerns with the Election Commission regarding former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa’s use of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo in his election campaign.
BJP Lodges Complaint Over Eshwarappa’s:Misleading Representation and BJP’s Response
The BJP, in its complaint, expressed dismay over Eshwarappa’s portrayal of himself as a representative of Narendra Modi and the BJP, despite being an independent candidate. The party emphasized that this misrepresentation could confuse voters and affect the election outcome, especially in Shivamogga where the BJP has fielded its own candidate, BY Raghavendra.
The letter emphasized the significant role Modi has played in elevating India’s global stature and reiterated that such achievements should be credited solely to the BJP or its allies. It highlighted that only BJP-endorsed candidates have the right to use Modi’s images for campaigning purposes.
The BJP called for strict action against Eshwarappa, urging the Election Commission to intervene and prevent further misuse of PM Modi’s image and the BJP’s name in his campaign.
BJP Lodges Complaint Over Eshwarappa’s:Appeal for Action and Electoral Dynamics
The BJP’s appeal to the Election Commission underscores the importance of upholding fair electoral practices and preventing misleading representations that could influence voter decisions. With Karnataka’s Lok Sabha elections approaching in two phases, the issue assumes greater significance, particularly in the context of the Shivamogga constituency, where Eshwarappa is contesting against BY Raghavendra, the son of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.
As voting for the Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka is scheduled for April 26 and May 7, it becomes imperative for electoral authorities to address such concerns promptly to ensure a level playing field for all candidates and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
