BJP-JJP Alliance Teeters: Haryana in Political Turmoil
Fast-paced political developments are causing a stir in Haryana, as tensions rise within the ruling coalition of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala of the JJP, reportedly returning his official carcade, signals a potential rupture in the alliance, placing the state’s political landscape on a precarious edge.

Sources suggest that the next few hours are critical, with the possibility of changes in the State cabinet looming large due to the imminent exit of the JJP. In response, the BJP has mobilized its key office bearers, Tarun Chugh and Union Minister Arjun Munda, to assess the situation. A meeting of BJP legislators seems likely, with BJP Haryana-in-charge Biplab Deb expected to be present.

Raj Bhavan on Alert: Parties Expected to Approach the Governor
As the crisis deepens, the Raj Bhavan in the state is on alert mode, anticipating visits from political parties seeking the governor’s intervention. Independent MLA Nayan Pal Rawat, after meeting Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, asserts that the BJP-JJP alliance is at a breaking point. However, he adds that some independent MLAs supporting the Khattar government will ensure its survival.
Independent Voices: BJP’s Support Base Explored Amidst Alliance Strain
Independent MLA Dharampal Gonder affirms that independent MLAs are already supporting the BJP-led government. Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) MLA Gopal Kanda expresses skepticism about the alliance’s stability but asserts the BJP’s capability to secure all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state independently. He hints at a forthcoming meeting with the Chief Minister to determine the future course of action.
In the 90-member Haryana Assembly, the BJP, with 41 MLAs, enjoys the support of 5 independent MLAs and HLP MLA Gopal Kanda. Meanwhile, sources indicate that the Jannayak Janta Party has called for a meeting in Delhi, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding political drama. The situation escalated when former BJP MP Brijendra Singh from Haryana’s Hisar joined the Congress, highlighting internal discord within the BJP Haryana unit.
The 2019 Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP won all 10 seats, and JJP faced challenges on 7 contested seats, add context to the current scenario. With Lok Sabha polls anticipated between April and May this year, the political landscape in Haryana remains unpredictable and volatile.
