    A Bihar resident tragically lost his life in an unfortunate accident at a scrap store in the Shalina area of Srinagar. The incident occurred late Monday evening when a water tank fell on Asur ud Din Miya, a resident of Sadipur Goreyakatha Siwan, Bihar, who was employed at the store.

    According to officials, Miya was working in the scrap store when the accident happened. The heavy water tank suddenly toppled, trapping him underneath and causing fatal injuries. Despite prompt efforts, Miya could not be saved, and he was declared dead at the scene.

    The local authorities have taken custody of Miya’s body, which is currently being held in the mortuary of the Police Hospital Srinagar.

    The body will remain there until the completion of medico-legal formalities, which are necessary for further investigation and for returning the body to his family in Bihar.

    The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Proceedings have been initiated under Section 194 BNSS, which pertains to occupational safety and negligence in the workplace.

    The authorities will determine whether any safety regulations were violated, contributing to the tragic incident.

    This incident has raised concerns about workplace safety standards, especially for workers from other states who take up employment in hazardous environments.

    The tragic loss of Asur ud Din Miya underscores the importance of ensuring that all workplaces adhere strictly to safety protocols to prevent such accidents in the future.

    Miya’s family in Bihar has been informed, and arrangements are being made to transport his body back to his hometown for final rites.
