A collaborative operation between the Indian Army and Jammu-Kashmir Police resulted in the arrest of an individual at Naupur, Baramulla, accompanied by the recovery of weapons and ammunition, as revealed by the Chinar Corps.

Established on December 27, the Joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was a response to specific intelligence inputs, leading to the apprehension of the suspect and the recovery of arms. A comprehensive investigation, jointly conducted with the Jammu-Kashmir Police, is presently underway.

In a separate incident, an overground worker (OGW) affiliated with the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was apprehended from the Shrakwara area in Baramulla. Identified as Imran Ahmed Ganaie, a resident of Nowpora Wagoora in Kreeri, he was intercepted during MVCP checking by the 52 Rashtriya Rifles near a bus stand. Despite attempting to escape, security forces tactfully apprehended him.

The recovered items from Ganaie included a 9mm Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, nine pistol rounds, and a mobile phone. An ongoing investigation has been initiated, with a case registered at the Kreeri police station.

In related news, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level meeting in the aftermath of a recent terror attack at Raj Bhawan in Jammu that claimed the lives of four Army jawans. Attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Army Chief, and intelligence agency officials, the meeting discussed security concerns in detail.

During his visit to Jammu and Kashmir’s border areas, Rajnath Singh assessed the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC). He emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance among troops to prevent any future untoward incidents.
