Union Home Minister Amit Shah suggested that the BJP might not contest the key Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir. He emphasized that the BJP’s goal is to win the hearts of the people in the Valley rather than rush political victories. Shah encouraged Kashmiri youth to reconsider voting for parties like the National Conference, Congress, and PDP.

Speaking at a large rally in Jammu’s Paloura area, Shah stressed that the BJP aims to gain the trust of Kashmiris rather than dominate them. He criticized the Congress, NC, and PDP for allegedly supporting terrorism and arming young individuals. Shah questioned Dr Farooq Abdullah about the rise in fake encounters during his tenure.

Shah confirmed that the Assembly elections in J&K will proceed as scheduled by the Supreme Court of India, with no delays expected. The SC had set a deadline for the Assembly polls by September 2024.

Taking a dig at PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti, Shah highlighted that despite the repeal of Article 370, the national flag still flies high in Kashmir. He noted the realization of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherji’s vision for a unified governance and identity. According to Shah, terrorism, stone-pelting, and protests have diminished significantly.

Shah emphasized the government’s efforts in ensuring fair representation for various communities, including Gujjars, Bakerwals, Paharis, Valmikis, OBCs, and women. He also outlined BJP’s plans to develop border villages in Jammu to match the city’s progress. Shah mentioned the establishment of prestigious educational institutions like AIMS, IIMs, and IITs in J&K.

In conclusion, Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to the development of Jammu and Kashmir with a slogan honoring Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherji’s sacrifice: “Jis Kashmir kay liye Mukherji nay diya balidan, wo Kashmir hamara hai.”
