    Kishtwar Bandh Call Withdrawn: Jamia Kishtwar, Imam Farooq Ahmed Kichloo, has withdrawn the kishtwar bandh call, for today, after the assurances were given, and the demands put forward by the protesters were accepted.

    Recap of Unfortunate Accident

    An unfortunate, and a tragic accident was reported from Jammu Kashmir’s kishtwar district, where a sole earner of the family, Ghulam Hussain Dar, while working on the job, died at Dangdoru hydropower project site. After the accident, widespread protest rocks JK’s kishtwar, that remained till midnight where protestors demanded the justice for worker Ghulam Hussain Dar, a worker who died while on job. He is survived by four daughters and a son, and was, a alone bread earner of the family. Report says, due to inadequate safety measures, this tragic took place. As this is a new incident, different instances of security lapses have been reported earlier too, raising the concerns on the operating company JP Company.

    The protesters protested till midnight, and blames district administration kishtwar for not providing the support to the victims. Protest also took place outside police station kishtwar, where DDC Chaiperson Pooja Thakur, alongwith community, local leaders, workers , accused the company of not providing adequate measures regarding workers safety. In a video statement, DDC Chaiperson was also seen speaking to chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

    How Reactions Came ?

    Even after the protest, when district administration kishtwar, took the things lightly, the imam Jamia kishtwar, Imam Farooq Ahmed Kichloo calls for kishtwar bandh on Saturday. In midnight hours, as per sources, the negotiations were held, and demands were accepted in written format by the officials/authorities Later, Jamia Imam announces the withdrawal of bandh call for today.

    DDC Chaiperson Pooja Thakur, in a video statement lashes, on the behaviour of District Administration kishtwar and urges for the rectification. Pooja pushed on the operating company to make adequate measures regarding the safety of workers, and barred for the presence signallers/spotters/whistleblowers, so that such incidents won’t be repeated in future.
