On Tuesday, R.R. Swain took up the esteemed position of the 17th Director General of Police for the region of Jammu and Kashmir. The official transition took place during a formal ceremony held at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Srinagar, where numerous dignitaries and senior officers were present to witness this momentous occasion. Among those in attendance were A.K. Choudhary, the Special Director General of Crime for Jammu and Kashmir, as well as Additional Directors General of Police S. J. M. Gillani, M.K. Sinha, and Vijay Kumar.

Additionally, Alok Kumar, the Director of Fire & Emergency Services for Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Vikramjeet Singh, the Commissioner Secretary of Industries & Commerce, IGP V. His journey through the ranks of the force includes pivotal assignments such as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Kothi Bagh, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Ramban, Kargil, and Poonch, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Kathua, Jammu, and Srinagar, and roles as the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police/Welfare at PHQ and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Vigilance. After years of dedicated service, he has now taken up the prestigious mantle of Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, marking the next significant chapter in his illustrious career.
