Sunil Dimple Welcomes Supreme Court Verdict on SRO-384, Demands Regularisation of Employees in Jammu Kashmir

Jammu-based political activist Sunil Dimple has welcomed what he described as a historic verdict by the Supreme Court of India directing the Jammu and Kashmir Government to implement the SRO-384 provisions for the regularisation of need-based employees in the health and medical departments within four weeks.

In a statement, Dimple urged Jammu and Kashmir Raj Bhavan led by the Lieutenant Governor and the elected government to implement the judgment across all departments for employees who have completed seven years of service.

He said the order should not be limited to the health sector and must be extended to several categories of contractual and temporary workers who have been serving for years in different government departments.

Dimple demanded the regularisation of contractual lecturers in polytechnic colleges and need-based assistant professors in higher education institutions. He also called for regularisation of Special Police Officers (SPOs), seasonal teachers, school Ayas, daily wagers, and other contractual staff working in public departments.

He further sought benefits for workers engaged under schemes such as Anganwadi services, mid-day meal programmes, and cooks working in government schools. Dimple said employees including land donors, CPW workers and others should also be covered under the policy.

The activist also urged authorities to implement the Minimum Wages Act for workers such as Rehbar-e-Khel (REK), Janglat labourers, Sehat workers, vocational trainers, cluster resource coordinators and KKG staff, along with fair price shop dealers under the CAPD department.

In addition, Dimple demanded increments for employees appointed under SRO-202 and called for the re-engagement of contractual teachers who served during 2014–15 and 2018–19.

He also urged the government to grant UGC pay scales to need-based contractual assistant professors and demanded that recruitment examinations for posts such as Police Sub-Inspector and Naib Tehsildar be conducted at the earliest.
