Ireland has become the first European nation to introduce a ban on the trade and import of goods from Isra_eli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Once enacted, the bill will cri_minalize such imports under the Customs Act 2015. The government aims to differentiate goods using Isra_el’s settlement postal codes, as already recognized by the EU. While the legislation sparked backl_ash from some, Harris stressed the move was about accountability and hopes it inspires other nations to follow suit.
This bold step reinforces Ireland’s position as a vocal advocate for Pale_stinian rights and international law.
