
JustWatch Releases Q1 2025 Streaming Market Share Report for India
JustWatch, the world’s largest streaming guide, has released its latest report on SVOD market share developments in India for Q1 2025.

SVOD Market Shares in Q1 2025
In the first quarter of 2025, JioHotstar reclaimed the top position in India’s streaming landscape
with 26% market share, edging out Prime Video, which followed closely at 24%. Netflix came in
third at 17%, while Apple TV+ (12%) and ZEE5 (11%) rounded out the top five.
Together, these five platforms captured a commanding 90% of total viewer demand.
Market Share Development: January–March 2025 Q1 saw continued competition among major providers. Netflix led the quarter with a 2% gain in market share, marking a strong start to the year. Prime Video and Apple TV+ each grew by 1%, while ZEE5 and Sony Liv maintained their positions without change.
Year-over-Year Comparison: Q1 2024 → Q1 2025
Compared to the same period last year, the Indian streaming market shows signs of intensifying competition:
● JioHotstar improved its share by 3 percentage points year-over-year, regaining the lead it temporarily
lost to Prime Video at the end of 2024.
● Netflix grew by 1%, building on a steady upward trend observed throughout 2024.
● Prime Video, though still strong, ended up flat compared to Q1 2024 after peaking mid-year.
● ZEE5 held stable at 11%, while Apple TV+ increased slightly from 11% to 12%.
● JioCinema and Sony Liv both saw minor declines in market share compared to their higher positions
in early 2024.
