GN Itoo takes charge as new DSEK

SRINAGAR: Dr GN Itoo formally assumed charge as Director of School Education Kashmir on Thursday, succeeding Tasaduq Hussain Mir.

During the handover ceremony, Dr Itoo received a warm welcome from officers and officials in attendance. He expressed his gratitude and pledged to prioritise efficiency and collaboration within the department.

Shortly after assuming office, Dr Itoo chaired an introductory meeting, highlighting the immediate need to fill vacant positions of principals, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), and headmasters across various schools.

He directed Chief Education Officers (CEOs), principals, cluster heads, and ZEOs to work cohesively to enhance the public delivery system. Dr Itoo emphasised that all issues concerning teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as public grievances, should be addressed within specified timelines.

Resolving parental concerns and improving communication with parents were underscored as key priorities. Dr Itoo urged government and private school administrators to uphold rules and regulations while striving to meet parents’ expectations.

Prior to this appointment, Dr Itoo served as Mission Director, Jal Shakti, where he oversaw the distribution of potable water to remote, underserved areas in Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, he has previously served as Director of School Education Kashmir, as well as Director of Tourism Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla, and Director of Estates.
