Google and Alphabet CEO Discusses Expanding Operations and AI Partnership with Prime Minister Modi
Sundar Pichai, the Chief Executive Officer of Google and Alphabet, extended his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a productive meeting that took place virtually on October 16. During their interaction, PM Modi and Mr. Pichai delved into Google’s plans to contribute to the expansion of the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India. Prime Minister expressed his commendation for Google’s collaboration with HP in the manufacturing of Chromebooks in India.
Empowering Indian Languages and Good Governance
The Prime Minister recognized Google’s 100 languages initiative and encouraged efforts to make AI tools accessible in various Indian languages. Additionally, he urged Google to work on AI tools aimed at enhancing good governance, highlighting the potential impact of AI in governance and public service.
Fintech Initiatives and Financial Inclusion
PM Modi warmly welcomed Google’s intentions to establish its global fintech operations center at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar. Sundar Pichai shared Google’s plans to improve financial inclusion in India by leveraging the strength and reach of platforms like GPay and UPI.
Contributing to India’s Development Trajectory
In the meeting, Mr. Pichai emphasized Google’s strong commitment to contributing to India’s development path and trajectory, emphasizing the company’s role in supporting India’s growth and progress.
Global Partnership on AI Summit
Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to Google to participate in the upcoming Global Partnership on AI Summit, scheduled to be hosted by India in December 2023 in New Delhi. This collaborative effort is indicative of India’s commitment to harnessing AI’s potential on a global scale.
