Landslide in Uganda, 15 killed, several missing
Atleast 15 people killed and hundreds are missing after a landslide hits several villages in eastern Uganda, says officials.
Uganda Red Cross Society in a statement said, 400 households are damaged, while others were partially damaged. Charles Odongtho, who is spokesman for the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) states that, “So far we recieved 15 dead bodies, others were missing.”
As per officials, conditions of roads is impassable, due to which vehicles, others are not able to initiate rescue operation. Its common in Uganda, hits by annual unusual heavy rainfall triggering the landslides and floods.
Contrast to this, this area have already witnessed disaster, when in year 2010, atleast 80 people were killed after an avalanche hit the area.
