US-Designated Global Terrorist Muhammad Sarwar Dies in Lahore

LAHORE, October 19, 2026 [VoM News]: Muhammad Sarwar, a senior figure designated as a global terrorist by the United States for his alleged role in Lashkar-e-Taiba’s fundraising network, died in Lahore on Sunday.

The Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) said Sarwar, its Punjab president, collapsed while travelling from his home to a mosque for prayers. The party did not specify the cause of death.

Pakistani media outlet 24NewsHD reported that Sarwar died from a head injury sustained after falling down stairs.

The PMML is widely described as a political offshoot linked to Jamaat-ud-Dawa, founded by Hafiz Saeed, who is serving prison sentences in Pakistan following convictions in terror-financing cases.

In 2016, the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control designated Sarwar and senior Lashkar-e-Taiba figure Shahid Mahmood as Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

At the time, US authorities accused Sarwar of raising and transferring funds to support LeT operations. The Treasury said he had served in senior positions within the organisation for more than a decade and had been its Lahore chief since at least January 2015.

US authorities also alleged that Sarwar used Pakistan’s formal financial system for fundraising and had previously led delegations of businessmen to LeT facilities to solicit donations.

His funeral was scheduled to be held at Jamia Al-Qadsia in Lahore.
