Islamabad Bloodbath Draws Parallels to 1971 Tragedy: Chaos in Islamabad | Protesters Face Deadly Crackdown
Bloodshed erupted on the streets of Islamabad Tuesday night as violent clashes broke out between security forces and protesters demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. In an interview with VOM News, international mediator Faisal Muhammed shared that some PTI workers expressed their views, accusing security forces of carrying out a brutal assault on peaceful demonstrators. “Security forces fired live rounds with intent to kill, turning the city into a battleground,” Faisal stated, highlighting the serious repercussions of this escalating unrest for Pakistan’s future stability.
Ruling Coalition Responsible for Escalating Violence
Faisal Muhammed has pointed to the ruling coalition, led by Shahbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, and Army Chief General Asim Munir, for its role in deploying military force to suppress dissent and maintain control over power. “What we are witnessing is no longer a government, but a regime that is pushing the nation into chaos,” he remarked. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have expressed strong disapproval of the violence, describing the assault as an attempt to stifle opposition and silence the largest political force in the country, further deepening the political crisis in Pakistan.

Warnings of Civil War and Global Attention
Mediator Faisal issued a stark warning about the potential fallout, predicting the escalation of unrest into full-blown civil war if the violence continues. “The regime’s actions are a recipe for disaster,” he cautioned. Despite this, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif openly praised the military for its efforts, further fueling tensions. As international observers watch Pakistan’s political crisis with growing concern, the shadow of 1971 looms ominously over the nation’s fractured democracy.
