VoM Exclusive: BRICS Summit Poised to Redefine Global Power Dynamics, Says Faisal Muhammed
Putin Sends Strong Signal to the West Amid War
The BRICS summit, chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, has emerged as the largest event Russia has hosted in years, positioning it as a key moment in global diplomacy. Speaking with Indian news agency VOM, International Mediator and head of World Peace Mission Faisal Muhammed highlighted that this gathering allows Putin to showcase that despite Western-backed conflicts in Ukraine, Russia is not isolated on the world stage. Faisal also suggested that Pakistan could benefit by joining BRICS, but would need to recalibrate its foreign policy and reduce its dependence on Western alliances.
Modi and Xi Break the Ice After Years of Strain
Faisal emphasized that the long-anticipated meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping marked a major diplomatic breakthrough. The summit saw a “melting of the ice” between the two nations after years of border disputes, signaling the potential resolution of tensions. He noted that easing this rivalry would prevent external forces from exploiting the India-China divide to contain China, marking a critical victory for BRICS diplomacy.
Tehran Strengthens Ties with Moscow, Challenging the West
Further underscoring the summit’s geopolitical significance, Putin held crucial talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, focusing on deepening Russian-Iranian ties. Muhammad remarked that these evolving alliances pose a direct challenge to the Western-dominated global order. With the participation of the UN Secretary-General and numerous countries expressing interest in joining BRICS, the summit has firmly positioned itself as a potential game-changer in global power dynamics.
