Amid uproar by opposition, resolution for restoration of J-k special status passed in Legislative Assembly
The day started with a significant development in Jammu Kashmir’s Legislative Assembly,.where a resolution, supporting the restoration of special status of Jammu Kashmir was passed, despite the roar of opposition.
What really Happened?
As the session of Jammu Kashmir legislative assembly is going on, a significant development came into sight, where a resolution for restoration of Jammu kashmirs special status was passed in legislative assembly. The opposition party, Bhartiya Janta party opposes the resolution, and termed it against the terms of business. The assembly passed the resolution by voice vote, and later on the house was adjourned by the speaker. The resolution demanding restoration of special status aimed, urges the centre leadership to conduct a dialogue session with elected representatives of Jammu Kashmir. A ruckus was seen, as members, from on opposition benches, protested, and raised the slogans of ‘Pakistani agenda nahi chalegaa’ and ‘National Conference sharam karo (have some shame).
As soon the session commenced, Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary moved the resolution aimed at restoration of special status of Jammu and Kashmir, and constitutional guarantees.
What is Jammu Kashmir’s Special Status?
Jammu Kashmir, had the special status, having the legacy putted bm by efforts of Sheikh Abdullah and Maharaja of Jammu, which safeguarded the identity, culture and rights of people of Jammu Kashmir. As, the central government, as under their manifesto, abrogated the special status of Jammu Kashmir. The central government on August 05, 2019, abrogated the special status of Jammu Kashmir.
In Jammu Kashmir, after six years of gap, elections were conducted, in which national conference party won 42 seats, whereas Bhartiya Janta party occupied second position with 29 seats.
The National Conference in its manifesto, called for the resolution for restoration of special status, and resolution for statehood.
