2 Porters 2 Soldiers Martyred in Gulmarg Attack; CM, PDP Chief Condemn
In a deadly terror attack near the Nagin area of Botapathri along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Gulmarg, two porters and two Army soldiers lost their lives. The attack, which took place on Thursday evening in Baramulla district, also left three others injured.
According to officials, the terrorists targeted an Army unit, resulting in the deaths of two civilians working as porters and two military personnel. The injured individuals were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. In response, security forces have launched an extensive search operation to track down the attackers.
This attack marks the second major terror strike in Kashmir within a span of five days. Last Sunday, seven people, including a doctor, were killed in a terror incident in Gagangir, Sonamarg.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his deep sorrow and condemned the attack.
He described the event as “unfortunate” and raised concerns over the recent surge in violence in the region. “This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms and send my condolences to the loved ones of those who lost their lives,” he said in a message posted on social media platform X. Abdullah also wished for the swift recovery of the injured.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the attack.
Expressing her shock and sadness, she stated, “Shocked & deeply saddened by the militant attack on an army convoy in Baramulla in which a civilian porter has been killed. I condemn it unequivocally and pray for the swift recovery of the injured soldiers.”
Authorities continue their search efforts as security remains heightened in the region following the attack.
