VoM Exclusive| Modi’s Absence: A Snub to Shahbaz’s Regime?

SCO Summit: A Platform for Peace, but Results Remain Elusive

In a recent conversation with the Indian news agency VOM, Faisal Muhammed, an international mediator and head of the World Peace Mission, discussed the implications of hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Pakistan amidst escalating global conflicts. While he acknowledged the SCO’s potential to facilitate meaningful dialogue and cooperation, he expressed skepticism regarding the current Shahbaz Sharif regime’s ability to yield the anticipated outcomes, given its questionable constitutional standing on the world stage.

Modi’s Diplomatic Withdrawal: A Calculated Move?

Faisal highlighted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s conspicuous absence at the summit, suggesting that it was a deliberate attempt to undermine the hosting legitimacy of the Shahbaz administration. He argued that had Imran Khan been at the helm, significant leaders including Modi, the Iranian leadership, and the presidents of China and Russia would have attended, paving the way for transformative shifts in regional dynamics.

A Cold Reception: Rethinking Diplomatic Protocol

Moreover, Faisal criticized Pakistan’s approach to diplomacy, stating that the Indian Foreign Minister should have received a warmer welcome in Islamabad. Instead of a grand reception, he was met by a foreign office secretary at the airport, a move that Faisal deemed a miscalculation in fostering a positive diplomatic atmosphere between the two nations.
