Jammu and Kashmir is set to host 13 matches of the third leg of Legends League Cricket (LLC), marking the return of international-level cricket to Kashmir after a 40-year absence.
Matches will be held at Jammu’s Maulana Azad Stadium and Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium, starting October 3, 2024. This event has stirred excitement among cricket fans and international stars alike.
Raman Raheja, co-founder of LLC, expressed the players’ enthusiasm in a recent interview with Excelsior. He highlighted the overwhelming support received from the region during the last edition. “Last year, we faced limited time and had only a few matches in Jammu, which were disrupted by rain.
However, this year we have a full schedule for both Jammu and Kashmir, and we are excited for great competitive matches,” Raheja said.
Raheja also emphasized the significance of bringing cricket to regions that rarely see international-level matches, underscoring the league’s mission to promote sports across India. The decision to hold the final match in Srinagar was driven by the community’s passionate support from last year.
He added, “Our team has been preparing in Kashmir for months, and we are receiving full support from the administration.”
Reflecting on LLC’s success, Raheja noted its growing popularity among retired international cricketers, offering them opportunities to extend their careers. This year, LLC introduced an auction, attracting 700 players globally, with 200 making the final cut based on fitness.
