Jammu BJP Chief Raina Calls Fake Order to Attend Rashid Rally a Propaganda
Key Highlights:
- BJP’s Ravinder Raina calls letter about rally attendance “fake”
- Alleged letter urged party workers to attend MP Engineer Rashid’s rally
- Raina requests Election Commission to register FIR for political fraud
Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina has denounced as “fake” an alleged order circulating on the party’s letterhead. The purported order urged BJP workers in the Kashmir Valley to participate in a welcome rally for Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid.
Rashid was recently released from Delhi’s Tihar Jail on interim bail until October 2, following his involvement in a terror funding case, and is expected to campaign for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
Raina strongly refuted the authenticity of the letter, attributing it to a “frustrated opposition” attempting to spread misinformation ahead of the elections.
He expressed his concerns on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he clarified that no such directive had been issued from his office.
He further revealed that he had requested the Election Commission of India to file an FIR against what he described as “political fraud.”
“This is nothing but political propaganda by a frustrated opposition,” Raina stated, emphasizing that the letter in question was fabricated and part of a broader attempt to undermine the BJP’s standing in the region.
The controversy emerged on the same day that MP Engineer Rashid walked out of Tihar Jail, having been granted temporary bail. Rashid had been imprisoned due to his involvement in a terror funding case.
His release is seen as a significant development as he prepares to participate in the campaign for the forthcoming assembly elections.
Raina’s prompt action in addressing the issue underscores the BJP’s efforts to counter disinformation during the election period.
