    Key Highlights:

    • Congress promises Rs 25 lakh health insurance and Rs 5 lakh loans for women entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir.
    • Rs 3,000 monthly to women heads of families and 11 kg grains per person through public distribution.
    • Restoration of statehood, jobs, education, and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits promised by Congress-NC alliance.

During a campaign in Anantnag, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announced five major guarantees for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, if the Congress-NC alliance is elected to power.

These promises include a Rs 5 lakh interest-free loan for women entrepreneurs and a health insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh per family.

Kharge also promised to provide Rs 3,000 monthly to women heads of families and restore the distribution of 11 kg grains per person through the public distribution system.

In addition, the party plans to rehabilitate displaced Kashmiri Pandits, fulfilling a commitment made during the Manmohan Singh era.

Addressing issues of unemployment, Kharge criticized the current BJP-led administration for failing to fill over one lakh job vacancies in Jammu and Kashmir.

He assured that a Congress-NC government would create more jobs by focusing on tourism, manufacturing, and reopening over 4,400 government schools that have been closed in recent years.

In a significant promise, Kharge reiterated the commitment to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, along with a bi-cameral legislature.

He emphasized that the Congress-NC alliance would work toward the aspirations of the people, ensuring their rights and addressing their needs, including those of the OBC community.

Kharge’s announcements were made in the presence of National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and other senior Congress leaders, including K.C. Venugopal and Subodh Kant.
